Our Mission
At Custom Cubes, we work to promote #hypercubing around the world, and to do so by offering high-quality toys, in a wide variety, at affordable prices. Our goal is to make 4D Magic Cubes as widely available as the original Rubik's Cube has been around the world for the past 50 years. Of course, we don't want to take away the credit from the inventor of the 4D cube, Melinda Green, whose original project page we've also linked here.
Our Story
Our story began somewhere around 2008-2009, when the founder of the site, Adrian Vasvari, first got acquainted with the traditional 3x3 Rubik's Cube. After learning to solve it in a few hours, the avalanche began, and he started buying more and more cubes and learning to solve them.
At the same time, he also got acquainted with the world of 4-dimensional magic cubes through the Magic Cube 4D program - also developed by Melinda Green and her colleagues - which immediately fascinated and captivated him with its beauty and complexity. Adrian has been an avid fan of 4-dimensional Magic Cube solving ever since, and has solved numerous hypercubes over the past 16 years - both virtually and physically.
Sometime in 2021, it occurred to him how great it would be if, in addition to Melinda's original 2x2x2x2 cube, he could also play with additional, larger-sided 4-dimensional cubes and cuboids, and after more than 3 years of development work, this website and the toys available here were finally born.
About The Founder
I am Adrian Vasvari, the founder of customcubes.eu, and as you can see from the above, I have been obsessed with Rubik's Cubes for over 16 years.
Due to my mathematical approach, I have never been really interested in speedsolving, but in developing and optimizing different algorithms and solving methods.
And since I am not a "speedsolver", I have never attended classic Rubik's Cube competitions, so my results with normal (3-dimensional) cubes are not recorded anywhere.
Not so with higher-dimensional puzzles... :)
My experiences with higher dimensional cubes:
I have been playing with 4- and 5-dimensional (virtual) puzzles since 2010 - in the aforementioned Magic Cube 4D ("MC4D"), as well as Magic Cube 5D ("MC5D") and Magic Puzzle Ultimate ("MPUlt"). (In the MC4D and MC5D programs, you can only play with regular, 4- and 5-dimensional Rubik's Cubes with the same number of sides, while in MPUlt you can also play with 4- and 5-dimensional, unique-numbered cubes, so-called "cuboids".)
Here comes my results with these puzzles...
My first 4D Rubik's Cube solve - back in 2010 - was the iconic 3x3x3x3 (131st in the world):
(I played with the 3x3x3x3 for a very long time - more than 10 years - and in the meantime, of course, I solved the 4-dimensional 2x2x2x2 on September 13, 2012 as well, but the solvers of this puzzle are not listed separately on the "Magic Cube 4D Hall of Fame" page, so I can't attach a screenshot about it.)
After that, I solved the 4-dimensional 4x4x4x4 in 2021:
(After this 4x4x4x4 solve, the "grinder" really started. From there, the new and new 4D and 5D puzzles almost hit each other, and around this time I also started working on this 4-dimensional Magic Cube project, the result of which you can find here, on this website.)
Less than 1 month later, I also solved the 4D 5x5x5x5:
(After solving the 4-dimensional 5x5x5x5, I felt that the 6x6x6x6 would not be too much of a challenge for me, so a "dimension jump" followed and I started working on the 5D 3x3x3x3x3 puzzle.)
Just a month later, in July 2021 (as 79th in the world), I also solved the 5D 3x3x3x3x3 in MC5D:
(After this, I started working very intensively on my "physical" 4-dimensional Magic Cubes, but in the meantime I solved countless other 4D "cuboids" virtually in 2024 and 2025, as well as the 5-dimensional 2x2x2x2x2.)

The programmers also recorded the above solutions on a Wiki page, but unfortunately this page is currently unavailable for some reason, which is a shame, because it was also visible there that quite a few of my solutions were also solutions with the "least turns". Never mind, maybe it will be available again someday...
What next?
Currently, solving virtual puzzles has been pushed into the background a bit, and I am focusing more on solutions for the physical (hand-held) toys. I am ready with the solutions for the cubes currently available in the webshop - from 1x2x2x2 to 2x3x3x3 - and the solution guide for each of them will be available for our customers. In the meantime, I am continuing to work on solving larger cuboids, up to 2x4x4x4.
And when I am finished with these, I would really like to finally start solving the 6-dimensional 3x3x3x3x3x3 in the program called Magic Cube 7D ("MC7D"). :)
